Is the energy price cap failing to protect customers? | ITV News



Foreign travel is of course a luxury not everyone can afford. For many it’s a struggle simply to pay for food and heat their homes.

News today that energy bills are set to increase significantly for millions will therefore have been particularly unwelcome.

But with wholesale costs rising, companies will be allowed to charge more – at least £139 a year more in many cases.

That kicks in from October, just as the furlough scheme and Universal Credit uplift end.

A combination which charities warn will push nearly half a million more families below the poverty line.
