Mountain Island Lake Driving Tour of Stonewater & Overlook Subdivisions
Mountain Island Lake is only 12 miles from downtown Charlotte straight down Highway 16 (Brookshire blvd) providing the perfect opportunity for work and play. This beautiful lake between Gaston and Mecklenburg Counties was created in 1924. 95 years ago.
The lake is named after the mountain which appears as a island in the lake. The lake is approximately 3,281 acres and the full pond elevation is 647.5 feet. The lake has 61 miles of shoreline.
