Castell Son Claret in Mallorca, Spain has unveiled new developments, which include the addition of four new Garden Suites, a new “garden service” dining option, and an al fresco gourmet restaurant, Sa Clastra.
Created from a 19th-century castle, The Leading Hotels of the World property has 41 rooms and is set within a 326-acre country estate with rolling countryside reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, ideal for hiking, cycling and getting back to nature.
Inspired by the mid-Century style of the ’50s and ’60s, each of the four new suites offers 807 square feet of space. The light-filled suites have floor-to-ceiling windows allowing breathtaking views of the UNESCO-protected Tramuntana mountain range that hugs the Castell estate.
The resort’s large estate and the surrounding countryside provides plenty of outdoor space, naturally allowing for “distancing.” To complement this, the hotel recently introduced a new dining concept, “Garden Service,” whereby guests can order food and drinks from their room service menu to be delivered to their suite or to one of the many private corners of the hotel’s grounds and gardens. Guests can even host their own paella party, with the Castell team delivering freshly made paella in a traditional circular pan, along with a bottle of chilled wine and dessert so that “guests don’t have to move a muscle and can enjoy a leisurely al fresco lunch that stretches out into the entire afternoon.”
The hotel’s new restaurant, Sa Clastra, is located in the large central patio at Castell Son Claret and is led by young Mallorca chef Jordi Canto. It is a fine dining that serves dishes from around the world and reinterprets them using local ingredients, honoring Mallorca’s culinary heritage of the slow food tradition. Open for dinner five nights a week, Sa Clastra offers two tasting menus that will change according to the seasons and what is available locally.
Castell Son Claret has extended the season until the end of November this year, allowing for more opportunities to plan an autumnal Mediterranean break.
Estate double rooms at Castell Son Claret are priced from Euro 550 (from USD 652) per room per night. Rates include daily breakfast, tax and service. Rates are fully commissionable to travel agents.
